Mary Brown’s believes in giving back.
Generosity is part of our corporate culture.
At Mary Brown’s, we don’t take our success for granted. That’s why we so often “pay it forward” by helping those in need or by simply extending the hand of friendship through our delicious food. We want to be an integral part of the communities where our stores are located.
Not surprising then that you’ll often see a Mary Brown’s operator dropping off Chicken & Taters to a fire hall to say thanks or getting involved in a local event. In fact, Mary Brown’s selects Franchisees who are committed to their communities and believe in altruism – led by example by our CEO, Greg Roberts.
Nationally, Mary Brown’s is equally active in philanthropy. We believe it’s the right thing to do.
Here are just a couple of community efforts Mary Brown’s has recently been involved in:
Mary Brown’s Home Office recently held a food drive team competition in support of Eva’s Place, a local emergency shelter for homeless youth aged 16-24. Eva’s Place provides the support youths need to return home or transition to housing in the community.
When a Mary Brown’s family member is in crisis, our Franchisees demonstrate great generosity!
Rachel Forsey, a young university student, is a former part-time staff member at our franchise location in Paradise, NL. Recently, Rachel was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. Her illness has taken her and her family to Toronto for an extended period of time. The cost to relocate has been a considerable financial burden.
Empties for Angels is a charity operated by a radio DJ called Fitzy on NOW Radio 102.3 in Edmonton. The charity has been very successful in raising funds through the donation of bottles by local businesses and individuals. It’s a one-day drive with the goal of helping a family in need.
This was Fitzy’s fourth time running the event – and Mary Brown’s was very proud to participate!
Mary Browns recently treated the cancer care professionals who work within cancer care at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre. Feb. 24 was Mary Browns Community Day and the four corporate stores within the St. John’s region donated and supplied lunch for every staff member of the cancer care program. Their thoughtfulness and kind gesture is so very much appreciated.
A BIG thank you goes out to our thoughtful Guests who donated and participated in the fundraiser for Jakob Dawe! As you may know, Jakob’s family and the community were on a combined mission to raise money for a surgery that could save his vision.
Mary Brown’s Famous Chicken & Taters is honoured to announce that our CEO, Greg Roberts, has donated $450,000 to the Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation, in St. John’s NL, coinciding with the facility’s 50th anniversary. The donation has been used to upgrade vital MRI equipment, leading to better outcomes for children of all ages. We’re SO proud of Greg’s generosity! <3
