General Accountant


The Accounting Generalist supports the entire finance team by organizing, planning and helping to execute key programs within Mary Brown’s Head Office to ensure organizational effectiveness and efficiency.

• Daily deposit & sales reconciliation for multi-unit network
• Bank Reconciliations
• Balance Sheet Reconciliations and analysis
• Inventory adjustments and review
• General ledger reconciliations, journal entries and monthly accruals
• Maintenance of the general ledger and all intercompany and clearing accounts
• Integrated Accounts Payable invoice imports & Online Bill Payments
• Monitor compliance of internal controls
• Review Employee Expense reports in Concur for compliance, import into Sage
• Manage A/P & A/R report generation and analysis
• Financial and Ad-hoc reporting analysis
• Processing month end reports and assisting Accounting Manager with period close activities
• Data Entry, filing, and other general administrative duties as required

• Actively adhere to all Mary Brown’s policies and if needed, clarify through communication
• Effectively and efficiently perform all tasks to lead by example

Required Skills and Qualifications
• A minimum of 3+ years’ experience in an intermediate accounting role
• Excellent attention to detail and very effective organizational skills with ability to manage deadlines efficiently
• Provide accurate, timely and, high quality work
• Proven strong analytical skills in reviewing accounts and accounting problems
• Collaborate and communicate well with individuals of all backgrounds in a fast-paced environment
• Decision Making Skills
• Well-spoken with a strong command of the English Language. Possesses excellent verbal, written communication and
listening skills
• Computer Skills including Microsoft Office, with strong excel skills and experience with Sage300 considered an asset
• Mature professional judgment and professionalism in handling all matters
• Ability to think strategically, problem solve and work well in a team

Education / Certification
• Relevant post-secondary education in business/accounting
• Working towards CPA designation considered an asset

Physical Activities and Requirements of this position
• The position may require long hours of sitting and using office equipment and computers
